MLM Prospects – Overcoming The 2 Worst Questions Asked
In Network Marketing, the biggest fear that marketers face is calling their MLM Prospects. They have fear of rejection and humiliation. But, this is a natural feeling, especially when you are new to Network Marketing. However, in order for you to overcome this fear, you have to be willing to accept the fact that rejection and humiliation is a part of this industry. It’s inevitable. It’s happened to ALL of the top income earners and will continue to happen for years to come.
Many reasons why marketers fear rejection and humiliation is because they don’t know how to respond to certain questions that the prospect may ask. So, they get stuck and they are not in control of the situation.
Getting over that fear is a process that takes time. And the only way to overcome it is just by doing it over and over again until you know how to handle it naturally.
The two main questions that a lot of marketers don’t know how to respond to properly are:
1 – “Is this some kind of Pyramid Scheme?”
2 – “How did you get my name? I never requested information”
Let’s look at these questions in detail…
1 – “Is this some kind of Pyramid Scheme?”
Before I answer this question, understand that MLM prospects are skeptical from the moment their phone starts to ring, especially if they have no previous home business experience. So, don’t get defensive. Your job is the relax and sound as calm and professional as you can possibly be.
Assure them that your company is a real legitimate home based business. Talk about the accomplishments that the company has achieved. Talk about how the company has changed many peoples lives and financial situation. However, don’t lie about anything. Because if they find out later that the information that you shared with them were not facts, you will lose your credibility as their sponsor.
2-”How did you get my name? I never requested information.”
People try to avoid the fact that they did request information because they are skeptical and don’t know you. They are afraid of being sold and are afraid of being scammed. So, they will make up every excuse in the book to try to hang up as quickly as possible. Let them know that if they didn’t request information, then someone knows their name, mailing address, email and phone number and registered on your site using their computer because you have their IP address. This will sometimes force them to remember and sometimes it won’t. But, either way, just be polite and respectful. If it was not them that requested the information, kindly ask them if they would like to be removed from your list.
When you are calling MLM prospects, you have to have a quality dialog, be courteous of their time and remember that your initial objective is to recruit people that will recruit people. So, if you feel that the prospects appears to be a waste of your time, move on to the next call. And be sure to send them an email anyway thanking them for their time. It’s just the right thing to do.

Good tips Lisa,
I think the reason prospects relate so much pain to network marketing a lot of times is because traditionally network marketers have not learned how to market. They have been taught to harass friends and family…who are not the target market. Over time I think that this is one of the biggest reasons why the industry has a somewhat skewed image to the masses. But then again, who cares about the masses…we are only looking for 3%-ers anyway:)
Thanks for this post.
